As the third largest teaching hospital in the United States, Jackson Memorial Hospital fosters an academic environment that supports the education and training of housestaff in an effort to continue producing excellent physicians. While rotating at this institution, housestaff are exposed to a wide range of medical subspecialties in the outpatient, inpatient and critical care settings. As the only county hospital serving Miami-Dade County, Jackson Memorial Hospital has over 1000 inpatient beds and allows clinicians the opportunity to provide care to the most underserved populations.
The Bruce W. Carter Veterans Administration Medical Center is part of the medical campus. It serves the veterans of three South Florida counties (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe) and is also the tertiary referral center for the West Palm Beach VAMC. The Medical Center has more than 400 beds, of which eighty-one are acute care medical beds including Cardiac and Medical Intensive Care Units. There are many opportunities for both clinical and translational research here.
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is South Florida’s largest provider of all-inclusive interdisciplinary care for cancer patients in the region. With over 1500 inpatient admissions annually, there is a large exposure to all aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Sylvester physicians and patients are engaged in numerous innovative clinical trials, providing additional research opportunities.
The University of Miami Hospital is a 560-bed is the region's first university-owned, multi-specialty, acute care hospital and the flagship facility of UHealth - University of Miami Health System. UMH provides patients with personalized treatment in a high-quality environment.
